How we handle your data

Last updated 26 October 2026

Who we are

african-grandprix.com is published by Olab Company Ltd, registered in Kigali, Rwanda. For anything in this policy, write to contact@olabltd.com.

What we collect

When you join the mailing list, we store the email address you give us, the exact consent wording you agreed to and the time you agreed to it, and your country as reported by our hosting provider’s network location — never your IP address directly. We also keep a one-way cryptographic hash of the IP address you signed up from, used only to limit repeated signup attempts; it cannot be reversed back into an address and isn’t linked to your email.

When you use the pitch or contact form, we store the name, email address and message you give us, and for a pitch, the portfolio link if you include one. The same IP-hash rate limiting described above applies.

Why we process it

The lawful basis for the mailing list is your consent, given by double opt-in: you submit the form, then confirm from a link we email you. We use your address for exactly what the signup form says — one email when african-grandprix.com launches, then a weekly race letter — and for nothing else.

For the pitch and contact forms, the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to the enquiry you’ve sent us — we use what you submit only to read and reply to it. We don’t sell data, and we don’t use any of it for advertising.

Who else sees it

Three processors handle data on our behalf, each only for the purpose named: Supabase (database hosting), Resend (sending the confirmation, newsletter and reply emails), and Cloudflare (telling bots from people on our forms). None of them may use your data for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep your subscriber record for as long as you’re on the list, and for a short period after you unsubscribe to maintain an accurate suppression list and prevent accidental re-subscription. If you ask us to erase your record entirely rather than just unsubscribe, see “Your rights” below.

Pitch and contact submissions are kept only as long as needed to respond and keep a record of the exchange, after which we delete them.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or erase your data, or to stop processing it, at any time by emailing contact@olabltd.com. Unsubscribing is one click, in every email, and needs no login — it stops future email immediately, though erasing the record itself is a separate request. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to Rwanda’s National Cyber Security Authority or, if you’re in the EU, your local data protection authority.

Cookies and analytics

african-grandprix.com sets no cookies. Site analytics run through Plausible, which doesn’t use cookies or track you across other sites, so there’s nothing here that needs a consent banner.
